Royals Get Redman

A little late in reporting this, but it’s great news for KC Royals. The Royals traded Jonah Bayliss and a player to be named later to the Pirates for Mark Redman.

Redman will make a good #2 starter allowing Grienke to take up the #3 spot. As for the #1, who knows, hopefully Redman won’t have to take it, but I bet he will. Rogers is gone and Benson isn’t coming (most likely) with Byrd already off the market. The Roylas won’t do business with Boras so Millwood is out, that leaves only Grade B- to C pitchers left. Unless something amazing happens in an Affeldt or Sweeney deal, Redman is #1 and Grienke #2.

In other news, Hernandez signed with Scott Boras today, so KC isn’t expecting him to stay long, perhaps he’ll be traded by the All-Star break.
