Last night I introduced several new pages within the members section about Chicken and Camel overlords threatening to takeover the website unless people wrote poetry about them. Well, turns out several members took it seriously and started cussing and yelling about the site being shut down.
I didn’t stop there however, I placed links within the homepage stating that they were going to take over. Then, within the submit poem page I added sections ‘camels’,'chickens’, ‘chicken and camels’. Before you know it, no one was taking it seriously and began cursing up a storm.
Not until the next morning were there members finding it as a joke and began posting joke poems to help out. However, there were still complaints. So I decided to cut the joke short.
Through all of this though, I might have gotten at least one idea. Themes. I will start having ‘theme days’ in which a theme is suggested for people to write about.
Anyway, maybe next year I will think of something better - or at least people won’t take it as seriously.
