I only watched parts of the original King Kong, so I’m not basing my liking on how well it corresponds with the original. I’m basing this review on how well the movie did as a unique film.
That being said, it was OK. The acting was fair, directing fair, realistic? Not really. An ape and woman falling in love is a little much. I can understand them having a certain friendship, but falling in love? Please. The movie also ran pretty long. The beginning ran a little long I thought… didn’t get to the jungle quick enough. Although, in order to get the whole story this may have had to happen. However, perhaps spending too much time in the jungle was the problem.
I can’t say much farther than this, but the movie was just too long for me without a great concept. Jack Black was amazing and really came out of his shell, so did the young actress (her name escapes me). From what I’ve seen and discussed with others, she will be the next Nicole Kidman.
