Google Denies Justice Department Request | Tech News on ZDNet

Feds take porn fight to Google | Tech News on ZDNet

As with many others, I have problems with this request. For one, what does this have to do with the overall security of United States Citizens? Second, How would the Justice Department figure out who searched for those terms without IP addresses at least? And thirdly, this sets a precedent for future governmental requests.

As Microsoft, Yahoo and AOL (to an extent) gave the government what they asked for, doesn’t that scare the bejesus out of you? Many of the searches were done, not only by people from outside the United States, but also by people of all ages. The request just doesn’t make sense.

The only thing the Justice Department could get from this is that many people search for porn. How do they not know that already? So it’s not about this. It’s about the Government trying to reduce our rights as citizens and our privacy on the web.

Thanks Bush and Friends. You are real class acts. First you snoop on our phone calls and now this.
